Developer Inflexion Games announces a stress test will be happening in early 2024 for Nightingale. Registration is now open.

Nightingale Announces Registrations for Stress Test in 2024

The open world survival game Nightingale will be gaining a stress test in early 2024. Developer Inflexion Games has opened registration so you can now sign up to be a part of the closed testing. The studio is inviting players to “break the portal network”. If you feel like helping to test the game, simply request to take part via the Steam page.

If you’ve been a part of Nightingale’s previous tests such as the recent playtest that saw 12,000 realmwalkers fight for survival you won’t be automatically added to this test. So if you want to be part of it make sure to sign up. The test will happening sometime in early 2024 with the first couple of hours of game available to experience hopefully “without interruption” says the devs.

A stress works a little differently to a usual playtest as its aim is to load the servers up and push the game’s multiplayer to the limit. This prepares the studio for early access which is happening on February 22nd, 2024. Good news is Inflexion is open to all kinds of players, not just influencers for feedback. So this means if you really just want to check out the game before it releases, the playtest will be a great way to help provide feedback for Nightingale.

In case you missed it, Nightingale combines the love of crafting with open-world survival. Taking on the role of a ‘Realmwalker’, players will travel to different realms through portals to explore different biomes from forests to deserts. Of course, nothing is really safe, as there will be a number of magical creatures to fight.

Recently the devleoper held a playtest which let players explore some of the game and create their own structures with some creative outcomes also downing over 60,000 wolves in the process. Players get to use a range of weapons include the favoured (so far) wooden axe in the “Gaslamp Fantasy” title.

Nightingale will cost USD 29.99, even after its Early Access run. The game will be available on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Bioware teases a full reveal for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf but not until Summer of 2024.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Teases More News to Come Summer 2024

A quick teaser trailer featuring the locations of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was released by Bioware on Dragon Age Day. This under-one-minute teaser features the beautiful vistas and the city of Antiva. It also shows the shoreline of Rivain with sparkling seas and a more stormy Anderfels. It also shows the headquarters of the Grey Warden in Weisshaupt Fortress.

The description of the video reveals “Enter Thedas, a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, treacherous labyrinths, and glittering cities – steeped in savage combat and secret magics. Now, its fate teeters on a knife’s edge”. It ends with the howl of a wolf and a full reveal will be happening summer 2024.

The short video features the different areas of Thedas and voice clips from different characters that represent different factions. A curious voice line is shared at the end hinting at a conflict with the “comfort of my reign” said in a rather menacing way. We already know the Dreadwolf is going to be Solas from what was previously shown. But this might not be him, meaning a new threat is making its way to the game.

Voice lines include:

  • We fight for everyone, and always will. The Crows rule Antiva.
  • Glory to the risen gods, they’ve come to deliver this world.
  • Grey Wardens don’t hide in our castle. I won’t ask good soldiers to turn tail and run.
  • All the world will soon share the peace and comfort of my reign.

Also shared was a new blog post which goes over the locations that were featured. It hints at the current state of the world which is on the “precipice of change”. Focusing on Thedas, with locations well-known to Dragon Age fans in previous games and some new ones we’ve yet to see.

It all sounds very ominous but we’ll have to wait until next year in summer to have the full reveal of the game and hopefully the release date. Can’t wait until then? Head to our Dragon Age: Dreadwolf wiki for all the latest info so far.

Death Must Die is a new action roguelike and bullet hell hybrid that mixes two fan favorites into one addictive stew.

Death Must Die Creates an Interesting Mix of Hades and Vampire Survivors

Fans of the roguelike Hades who can’t just wait for Hades 2 to come out might be interested in the new game being worked on by Realm Archive. Their latest project is called Death Must Die, a pixel-art take that mixes the best elements of Hades and Vampire Survivors. It creates a neat blend of action roguelike plus bullet heaven, with some other RPG elements thrown in for good measure.

So is it worth checking out? Let’s dive in!

Die, and Die, Again

Various prominent figures in video game history have tried to combat death, but ultimately fail. Even the Gods sometimes choose not to trifle with Death, as it is usually much more trouble than it’s worth. Death Must Die tells the story of some unsung heroes chosen by the Gods as their champions. Perhaps with the backing of an elite pantheon, a mere mortal could climb The High Mount and face off against Death themselves.

Death Must Die - Starting Out

Death Must Die has players pick one of the daring heroes who wishes to put an end to death. Just like in Hades, various Gods lend us their power for us to lay waste to Death’s legions. One immediate difference you’ll notice with Death Must Die is that instead of facing off a handful of enemies, you are usually pitted against dozens if not hundreds at a time.

Death Must Die - Combat

Just like the Vampire Survivors and its various spinoff games, screens are filled to the brim with countless foes that home into your location, out for your blood. Initial trailers don’t make it seem like the foes will have any special AI, and will just lumber toward you. But of course that’s to be expected from games such as Vampire Survivors.

The Champions Against Death

Unlike Hades, there are different classes players can choose from in Death Must Die. There seem to be 5 character classes at the moment. These comprise the Knight, the Warrior, the Barbarian, the Assassin, and the Sorceress. As expected, it looks like each of them has their skills and perks that make them stand out from the rest. These “Blessings” confer various buffs, such as increasing your overall damage, and attack speed, among other things.

Death Must Die - Hordes

The kicker here in Death Must Die is that you have the backing of the Gods that will help customize your run and make things interesting. Unlike Hades, the deities are all anime-inspired, but still very well rendered in glorious pixel art. We have gods and goddesses of Fire, Cold, Conquest, Lightning, Fate, Balance, and Time watching our backs. Even Mort, the Daughter of Death has had enough of her father and is lending us her powers of curses and debuffs.

Divine Judgment All-Around

Each divine being will have different bonuses, such as Summer the Flame Goddess having the affinity to make things explode and burn. What will make each roguelike run interesting is how you will build up your chosen character’s blessing and equipment with the random god boons that you’ll collect along the way.

Death Must Die - Mort

It looks like you can create some truly fantastical builds with the sheer number of god blessings available. Like choosing to align with Leigong, the God of Lightning will let you zip around the battlefield in a ball of electricity, then unleash charged bolts every time you hit an enemy.

Death Must Die - Boons

The gods and goddesses also have some playful banter with our character, just like in Hades. It might be expecting too much of the small developers to expect the same quantity of quality dialogue that Hades had. It should help flesh out this intriguing world that Realm Archive have created, however.

Death Must Die

Death Must Die is being developed by Realm Archive, which is a small indie team comprised of only four people. It was released into Early Access last November 15, 2023, and sells for $6.99, which is quite reasonable considering the amount of content already in. Though it is perfectly understandable if some people are wary of diving into yet another Early Access game that may or may not get completed. Reviews so far have been Very Positive on Steam, with 92% of the 4,400 reviews recommending the game as of writing.

Zenless Zone Zero is still in its closed beta testing phase, but HoYoVerse wants to share some details about the game’s heroes. Meet Nicole, Anby, and Billy, members of the Cunning Hares team. They are the first three characters you can get when you start playing the game.

Zenless Zone Zero Cunning Hares Characters Teased by HoYoVerse

The Cunning Hares are a band of problem-solvers who also work as Hollow Raiders – hired guns who loot New Eridu’s Hollows for gain. The trio are some of the first faces you see in the game, as the main plot is about them. They team up with “Phaeton”, a famous New Eridu Proxy account run by the brother-sister duo Belle and Wise (who are choose from as your in-game persona similar to the Traveler in HoYaVerse’s hit gacha game Genshin Impact). A fourth member, Nekomata, joins them later but you can only play her permanently if you get her from trying your luck in gacha pulls. Let’s take a look at each of the members.

Nicole Demara

Nicole Demara is the brains behind the Cunning Hares in Zenless Zone Zero. Despite her obsession with wealth, she struggles with keeping her budget in check, leaving the team in a constant struggle financially. In the gaming world, she is recognized as an A-Rank fighter specializing in ranged attacks with an Ether element. Her weapon of choice is a high-end bag, ingeniously modified with multiple gun barrels and an internal cannon. Her unique attacks create an energy field that draws enemies into its center, inflicting periodic Ether damage. Nicole’s character comes to life through the Japanese voice actor Yuu Serizawa, known for her roles as Iroha in 3D Girlfriend and Shera in How Not to Summon a Demon Lord.

Anby

Lastly, Anby, Anby’s trailer serves as a prologue to the game’s beginning, revealing the circumstances that led the Cunning Hares to cross paths with Phaeton and the player. Anby is reticent in nature, a girl with an enigmatic history who was welcomed into Nicole’s family as an adopted sister. Despite her proficiency in melee combat and her mastery of advanced fighting techniques, the source of her skills remains unknown. She often lacks common sense, drawing overly literal interpretations from films and literature.

While her normal attack deal physical damage, her special and ultimate attacks use Electrical damage to enhance her power. In the Japanese version, Anby’s character is voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki, known for her roles as Anya in Spy x Family and Frieren in Frieren: After Journey’s End.

Billy Kid

Previously HoYaVerse introduced characters to a few of the Zenless Zone Zero characters including Billy Kid. Since he’s one of the starter characters for players here’s a quick reintroduction of this robotic gunslinger.

Armed with a pair of twin revolvers and a nimble cyborg body, Billy is the team’s marksman. He’s a die-hard fan of the Starlight Knight hero show. He is adept at inflicting substantial physical damage on enemies he can line up in his path, and his evasive dodge allows him to target adversaries in all directions. Billy’s character is brought to life by the voice of Yuu Hayashi, renowned for his roles as Manjirou in Tokyo Revengers and Ryuunosuke in Haikyuu!!.

Currently Zenless Zone Zero is running its Equalising Test, which invited fans to sign up for a closed beta for the Action-RPG. The PC and mobile title has yet to have a launch date but looks to be closing in on its release in 2024.

The latest trailer for upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader introduces the ground combat system featuring both ranged and up close attacks.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Trailer Dives into Ground Combat

Whether you plan to attack from afar or get up close and personal Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader will have plenty of options according to its latest trailer. Developer Owlcat Games is just days away from the turn-based RPG’s launch and is gearing up by previewing some of the attacks you can unleash in the game.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Ranged Combat

Ballistic Skill is the way to go if you’re planning on attacking from afar. Having a high skill in this area means characters can become a Deadeye. This means they have a high hit chance for base damage, with a weapon’s effective range being 30 plus the Ballistic Skill. Normally you need to roll equal to or less than 30 and plus your Ballistic Skill in order to land a hit on an enemy.

Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader - Ballistic Skill

Other useful Characteristics include attacker’s Perception as well as using cover which grants another 60% less chance of getting hit. Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader also allows for half cover which grants 35%. Firearms also have different ranges, the Unfading Valour for example can fire from 12 radius while a Las Pistol only has 5. If you fire the weapon further than half its weapon’s effective range, your chance become 15 plus your Ballistic Skill halved.

Different weapons have a range of attacks such as Burst Shots or even flame throwers to deal with area attacks. If you fail an area attack, the enemy suffers only 50% of the original damage. You can even be your own undoing by using friendly fire, oops.

Close and Personal

If close combat is more your style Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader uses Weapon Skill and Agility are key indicators of successful attacks. Parry Chance for example is double the target’s Weapon Skill plus Parry Bonus, minus the Weapon Skill and Parry Reduction. Choose Parry or Dodge depending on which gives the better chance. Increase those chances by having allies with Melee Weapons close by, as it will give a further +10 to Weapon Skill, increasing your attack. Same goes for receiving attacks, gaining +10 Weapon Skill for your parries, super useful.

Players should be wary of enemy placement. If they are next to you, you won’t be able to use most ranged weapons, only close-range pistols and shotguns. But this is also a blessing in disguise, as you could take the same approach to disable enemy sharpshooters. As usual in tactical RPGs, if your enemy tries to run away while you’re nearby, you can attack with a free regular attack of a target leaving a neighbouring tile.

Armour Is Your Best Friend

Armour has a percentage of damage that it can absorb, with Deflection damage being decreased by a flat integer value. Damage gives a range of possible values a target will be inflicted with before any modifiers are applied. Penetration acts as a modifier that can pierce through armour. Every hit a player lands has a 10% chance of dealing Crit Damage which deals 150% damage. But these can also be modified.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader – Keeping up Morale

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader also has a morale system which is represented by momentum, with every party starting with 100. This number can go up or down with a range of 0 to 200. Momentum is affected by what happens in battle, for every enemy defeated it will go up. However, for every ally defeated it will also go down. A benefit of the system is that you can use unique abilities such as Heroic Acts. This becomes available when your Momentum is higher than 175, and the first use will cost you 75 momentum with each consecutive heroic act use being 25.

Of course, Heroic Acts all have their own requirements and some even have cooldowns such as Daring Breach, being available only once per combat. Deploy Desperate Measures when your Momentum is lower than 25, but they also have some cons such as penalties, and costing more AP until the end of combat such as Dismantling Attack.

The Rise of the Expanse

In case you missed it, Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader will follow the rise of the Koronus Expanse which is home to heresy, Xenos and others to be wary of. In turn-based combat, players will engage in battles with their companions. The game includes a morality system and also includes a cover system.

Rogue Trader‘s in-game systems seem quite in-depth, but should be fun to master when to take advantage of the Momentum system as well as the use of Parry and Dodge. Of course, companions will be key to winning the war on heresy. As a Rogue Trader, you will bring along crew members to go on perilous missions with you. Your allies may even turn into something more as Owlcat previously revealed you can even romance them. But you’re going to have to work at it, as won’t be quite as free as Baldur’s Gate 3’s lovefest. You can check our more details of the Companion system on our wiki and maybe prep for winning them over.

Previously Owlcat Games revealed more about the co-op mechanics, with multiplayer being an exciting feature for those who don’t want to venture alone in the space fantasy. You co-op with up to 6 players at the same time.

There will be plenty of hard choices to make, that will reveal consequences that affect the ending of the game. It can also reveal a new ending. Each decision will impact the sub-sector and will catch the eye of Inquisitor Calcazar who oversees the Koronus Expanse.

Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader releases December 7th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Be sure to visit our Rogue Trader Wiki for more info on the game!

According to a recent interview with the voice actor who plays Geralt, The Witcher 4 won’t be focusing on Geralt but a different main character. Doug Cockle shares his best theories into the game’s main lead.

The Witcher 4 May Have Geralt Return But He Might Not Be the Main Character

CD Projekt Red have been doing wonders with their latest title Cyberpunk 2077, especially with the expansion Phantom Liberty, but their next Witcher 4 or Project Polaris entry is the next surprise. Tidbits of the game’s details have been dropped here and there, the latest being the protagonist of the next game. According to a recent interview with voice actor Doug Cockle who plays the infamous monster hunter Geralt, the main character won’t be coming back as the main “focus” in the Witcher 4. He did share however he doesn’t have any insider info but has an inkling of a theory of who could be the next lead character.

The interview between Cockle and IGN, he revealed that CDPR won’t be centering on Geralt of Rivia in the next game. However, he is still excited to find out what direction their taking it:

Their focus for the game is not going to be Geralt. They’ve said that, so I’m really excited to see what their focus is. I have ideas but that’s all they are.

Doug Cockle – Voice Actor for Geralt The Witcher 3 – interview via IGN

Cockle didn’t go into details about whether or not Geralt will be appearing in The Witcher 4, or appear in a smaller role such as a cameo. He did however say that Ciri will be taking up a major role in the next few games. This could mean the next trilogy could follow Geralt’s adopted daughter, involving a multiverse of options setting-wise. Cockle explained that they set up the next games to feature Ciri as you could play her in certain scenarios in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. He did double down he’s “no idea” what the game will be about if they don’t go down that route but definitely gives food for thought.

The Witcher 4 teases a new saga which could involve Geralt in some form.
The Witcher 4 teases a new saga which could involve Geralt in some form.

Previously a teaser image showed a medallion, slightly hidden in snow. But that has some to believe we could be exploring the School of the Cat which would place Ciri in the perfect setup to continue the saga. However, the medallion looks more like a lynx which is not a school mentioned yet but could be the next direction.

Full Steam Ahead

We do know that now nearly half the team are working on The Witcher 4. This will also be a good entry point in the series according to director Sebastian Kalemba. But don’t worry veterans as Kalemba also shared in his interview with the Italian website Lega Nerd, it will still contain elements of “lore”, still remaining familiar to Witcher fans. One things for sure, it won’t be out for some years.

The Witcher 4 won’t be out for some years, and it’ll be a long time since the previous one, so we cannot just target the audience already fond of the saga. We must also build a new community. On that note, I believe I can say it’ll be an excellent entry point for many players, without forgetting the long-time fans who still wish to follow Geralt’s adventures.

Sebastian Kalemba – Game Director The Witcher 4 – via Lega Nerd (translated by Wccftech)

With the team wrapping up on updates for Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, the team can start to fully put the Witcher 4 in their sights. CP2077 will receive a massive patch 2.1 this week which adds a host of content including the metro system, hangouts and more. The game has a major resurgence following its base game update and expansion. The expansion alone has now reached over 4.3 million and with the Ultimate Edition now underway that number can only grow.

Which Witcher Next

CD Projekt Red are already confirmed to be working on a few projects including The Witcher 4. While not all have been confirmed title-wise, we do know that a Witcher Remake (formerly known as project Canis Majoris) is currently in the works. The first Witcher title will undergo, a facelift being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and will be a “reimagining” of the original 2007 RPG. It will be an open-world experience with plenty of quality-of-life improvements.

Also in the works is the multiplayer title Project Sirius, which last we heard had already completed its new framework. The project was restarted by the studio The Molasses Flood, who looked into some more experimental paths but ultimately decided to switch tact.

While they are working on three Witcher projects, there’s also a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel planned and an original IP also in development currently known as Project Hadar.

We’ll have to wait and see more info on the next Witcher 4, maybe we’ll get a teaser during this week’s The Game Awards 2023?

Happy weekend from Fextralife! If you’ve been too busy to keep up on the latest in the games we cover or are looking for a refresher we’ve got you covered! Here’s a bite-sized version of the Top RPG news of the week. Taste all the latest news across the Fextralife Wiki Network.

This Week in RPGs – December 3rd, 2023

This week in RPG news: Dragon’s Dogma 2 gets a release date confirmed, King Arthur: Knight’s Tale gets a Roman themes expansion announced, Path of Exile 2 reveals a new Mercenary class, Baldur’s Gate 3 gets a major patch adding a new ending and more in this week’s news. So let’s get into it.

Dragon’s Dogma 2

  • The wait is finally over, Capcom has confirmed the release date of Dragon’s Dogma 2 which is March 22nd 2024. The news was expected to be announced during the official showcase, after a leak of the date not too long ago and the confirmation on the Steam page just hours before the showcase. Director Hideaki Itsuno did hint that the date was the actual one through a tweet prior, so it’s not too much of a surprise. However, there was also a new gameplay reveal, a trailer and details for the exciting next chapter.
  • Interestingly, while the sequel does “mirror the first game”, the story will take place in a “parallel world”. Revealed in the new trailer was a new Enemy. Introduced in the showcased as the giant Talos, who emerges from the sea. In Greek mythology, Talos is a bronze automaton or living statue meant to protect.
  • The sheer size of this enemy is amazing, it towers storeys high which requires the player to jump from a high structure to climb aboard. To weaken its resolve, the player goes for the giant red ruby-like stone protruding from its body, hacking away at its crystals.
  • Also teased at the end of the showcase were a couple of new enemies the Dullahan and Drake. The Dullahan is seen clutching his own ghostly head in one hand while he has a scythe weapon in the other.
  • Taking a look at side Quests, we get a peak at a new Elven settlement called the Sacred Arbor who speak their own language.
  • Demonstrated in the showcase is a new ability for Pawns, is the Specialisation Woodland Wordsmith that let’s them interpret the language.
  • Previewed was a new Vocation, the Trickster. This Vocation is only to be used by the Arisen, who specialises in wielding Censers that can cloud the enemy. They produce smoke that can conjure illusions that ultimately make the enemies fight among themselves. This new Vocation looks to be more of a support role, supporting their Pawns in combat.
  • These are just some of details revealed during the showcase, you can check out more on our Dragon’s Dogma 2 wiki. For any news mentioned in this video you can find it in the link in the description below.

Morbid The Lords of Ire

  • Announced this week was the demo and story trailer for Morbid: The Lords of Ire. An evolution of the ARPG Morbid: The Seven Acolytes, moving away from the top-down pixel art to a fully 3D design. The game still features the same main character, Strider,

Path of Exile 2

  • Revealed during Path of Exile 2’s latest developer update was the new Mercenary Class which adds shooter gameplay to the ARPG. Also coming to the game is the use of optional WASD controls, which will make movement much more fluid.
  • The Mercenary uses a crossbow weapon which comes with a few different ways to play. It can behave similarly to a shotgun, an assault rifle or even a sniper rifle. You can also carry two different crossbows at the same time, meaning being able to switch between the two.
  • How your crossbow can act differently will depend on the kind of ammo you use. For example using Frost ammo can help to slow down enemies, help pierce armor and even explode frozen enemies. Another example is if you use incendiary ammo with rapid shot it acts as a mini gun, but you will need to charge it up first to unleash more powerful attacks.
  • Previously GGG showcased the Druid class, Warrior and Huntress. POE2 will bring dodge rolling, six new classes and will be a standalone game.
  • Path of Exile 2 enters closed beta on June 7, 2024.

Baldur’s Gate 3

  • The developers over at Larian Studios always have their hands full. Between the recent Physical Deluxe EditionPS Plus Trials, and upcoming Xbox Release, there’s already so much that the developers have been working on.
  • Released on the last day of November was Patch #5 – an update so big that it weighed in at 30 GB, and required that users have at least 130 GB of free space to install
  • A new Epilogue is one of the biggest additions. It takes place 6 months after the conclusion of the main game.
  • It will be the penultimate scene defined by the player and their actions, weighing in every choice, consideration, and consequence that might have followed you around. Larian even mentions that this is some of the most complex writing in the game so far, as it takes into account tons and tons of variables throughout your journey.
  • New to Baldur’s Gate 3 are the Honour and Custom game modes, which come after Tactician in the Difficulty selection Menu.
  • The Honor Mode provides a difficult twist, making changes even outside of combat. There are also “30 new tweaks” to the game’s boss fights. These changes are said to include new Legendary Actions that the bosses can take, giving them some unexpected tricks up their sleeves that even the most battle-hardened veterans might not anticipate.
  • There’s also the new Custom Mode allowing players to tweak specific settings, making the game easier or even more difficult. You can hide failed Perception rolls or enable Short Red Full Heals. You can check out all the latest updates and changes on our Baldur’s Gate 3 wiki.

The post Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.1 Adds the Metro System, Hangouts, and More! appeared first on Fextralife.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release patch 2.1 on December 5th. It is arguably still a huge patch in terms of content, despite being a “.1” incremental update.

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.1 Adds the Metro System, Hangouts, and More!

Coming out of absolutely nowhere is Cyberpunk 2077’s Patch 2.1, which follows on the heels of Phantom Liberty and Patch 2.0. Some would argue that the Phantom Liberty expansion, which sold over 4.5 million units by itself, already “fixed” what was missing from the base game and earlier versions.

However CD Projekt Red has shown us in yesterday’s livestream that they have at least one more major update up their sleeves. Come December 5th, players can finally ride the Metro!

Metro 2077

One of the earliest game footage trailers showcased protagonist V being able to hop onto a train and catch a ride to their destination, instead of having to drive (or fast travel) everywhere. Even the Phantom Liberty story trailer had Idris Elba smugly riding a train. Now Players’ V can travel between 19 different stations.

Cyberpunk 2077 - Now You Can Experience Public Transportation, Too!
Now You Can Experience Public Transportation, Too!

Players can choose to use the metro stations as fast travel points, or even just properly ride the train and travel in real-time and take in Night City. Thanks to the new incoming in-head radio system, players can finally brood and listen to “I Really Want to Stay At Your House” on the train just like David in the Edgerunners anime. This should be as immersive as it gets!

Cyberpunk 2077 - Pick Your Destination!

Speaking of in-head radio, the feature just makes sense considering that V has a high-powered computer crammed into their noggin, paired with what seems to be ultra-fast connected internet. It just makes sense that V could add a Spotify piece of chrome, right? The only limitation here is that music will pause or fade out during dialogue sections or areas that have scripted music that sets the tone.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sandevistan

The Cyberpunk 2077 devs have also seen all the memes comparing the Edgerunners’ version of Adam Smather versus his in-game counterpart. The iteration in Edgerunners is a terrifying caricature of a man, one that is less human and more metal. He is especially deadly with the fact that he uses his own Sandevistan module with deadly precision – something that he is seemingly missing from the main game.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Adam SMASH!!

Now Adam Smasher will activate the Cyberware in other to become a force to be reckoned with in Cyberpunk 2077. He will zip around the battlefield at even more inhuman speed, blasting the player from all angles. Smasher will also retain the signature “trails” that emphasize how fast the character is going, and where he came from.

Bosses in general will be improved in Cyberpunk 2077’s Patch 2.1, but there is no other mention of who else will be getting deadly new toys to play with.

V, It’s Roman! Let’s Go Bowling!

The massive patch will also add in some new activities, plus expanding some of the already existing ones. One of the more intriguing ones that caught fans’ attention will be the addition of hangouts with V’s chosen romantic partner. No specifics were given, but hopefully, this expands to more content with our significant other, whoever that may be (the correct answer here is Panam, by the way).

CP2077 - Go Back to Racing!
Go Back to Racing!

Speed Demons of Night City will also be pleased to hear that there are new replayable car races after completing Claire’s quests. Winning these tests of speed will award V cred that they can use to get discounts when purchasing vehicles.

Cyberpunk 2077 - Now You'll Never Get that Song Out of Your Head
Now You’ll Never Get that Song Out of Your Head

Of which, there are some new ones. There will be five new motorcycles, and one car modeled after Johnny Silverhand’s. Motorcycles, in particular, will be receiving some physics updates. Essentially players will be able to do tricks such as flips now, as their wheels will no longer be glued to the ground.

And better be quick, as even gang members can give V a chase come Cyberpunk 2077’s Update 2.1. Similar to police chases, these will be encounters best tackled while in a vehicle, at top speed, with a weapon in hand.

Accessibility 2077

Last is a massive win for those advocating for accessibility features. While Cyberpunk 2077 already had some, more is always better in this regard. There will be three new colorblind modes available to those who need is: Protanopia, Deuteranopia, and Tritanopia.

Cyberpunk 2077 - Tons of Accessibility Features
Tons of Accessibility Features

Subtitles will also be getting even more options, as you can enable cinematic, radio, and over NPC subtitles. Each of these can be toggled on or off and can be customized to be bigger, smaller, or even if they have a background for easier reading. Fonts in general will also get a ton of size options, perfect for those on the Steam Deck screen.

Aim Assist will also be getting various degrees instead of being just a toggle. Ranged, Melee, and Vehicle Combat can each be tweaked individually.

Welcome Back to Night City

Cyberpunk 2077’s Patch 2.1 looks to be quite a beefy one in its regard. While it might not have as sweeping changes as Update 2.0, everything presented thus far is quite good. Fans were not even expecting this, as it was assumed that Update 2.0 would be the final major patch that added content. We were so, so wrong.

The new patch drops on December 5, 2023, alongside the “Ultimate Edition” that includes both the Base Game and Phantom Liberty. Coincidentally, this is also the day that the trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI drops.

SPINE’s developer and publisher Nekki, shares a glimpse of the single-player action game, which was initially conceptualized as team-based in 2021. The hyper-cinematic gameplay trailer shows what players can expect in this chaotic Suicide Squad-like cyberpunk title.

SPINE Features “Gun-Fu” Gameplay In Exciting New Trailer

SPINE takes place in a cyberpunk world where the top corporation called Tensor AI is being heralded as a savior for having to “literally build heaven on Earth”. But not everything is as it seems. An unnamed rebellious group joins a growing list of factions causing turmoil not only in the streets but also on a global scale. Can they topple the behemoth that is Tensor AI? Will they be able to create a working and effective system to wipe the slate clean?

This is where the player comes in as they start getting involved in these grisly fights. You play as Redline, a street artist with a streak of rebellion in her blood. And you have this AI companion named Spine to help in your crusade and topple the oppressive corporation. In doing so, you will be interacting with the environment a lot as you engage in exhilarating and cinematic combat.

Full-Blown Atmospheric Experience

SPINE’s gameplay trailer showcases a few of the locations that you will come across as you eliminate one antagonist over another. You initially go against the armed forces in a corporate building, which presumably belongs to Tensor AI. And then you make your way to a dilapidated area that has been vandalized with graffiti as well as the rooftop of a building where you encounter street thugs.

SPINE - When in Doubt, Blast It Out

But the locations do not stop there because encounters also take place on moving trains, similar to how explosive and extremely cinematic Marvel movies are shot. One catastrophe leads to another in an attempt to survive combat and come at the top to defeat your tyrannical foes. What’s more, is that SPINE is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, which helps accentuate and support its over-the-top action style with stunning visuals.

Gun Fu Fighting

SPINE prides itself on ultra-action sequences where the goal is to create one heart-pumping immersive experience after the next. It is evident that right from the start every move Redline makes is as cinematic and action-packed as expected. Each encounter is composed of choreographed sets that highlight the rawness of the interactions between the player and their enemies.

SPINE - Bottle-Fu

Gun Fu is the correct term as you combine the snappy movements of Kung Fu with the power of close-range guns, just like in the John Wick movies. There is even an instance in the trailer where Redline performs a mini cartwheel to evade the shooting as the camera moves along with her. SPINE is attempting to capture what other action games are struggling with and it involves consistently creating a “movie-like experience”. According to the title’s description, action movie experts have played a huge part in the camera work and choreography, resulting in impactful and unforgettable encounters filled with tension.

Move Like a Butterfly

So despite how quickly everything moves, certain cinematography shots are slowed down to highlight that specific action piece. One good example is when Redline is pushed from the corporate building’s window by a heavily armed guard only to possibly be ‘caught’ by a high-speed train. It is then supplemented by what seems to be Spine’s voice asking, “No elevator this time?” while she is descending and her life is in peril. This is just a glimpse of how quirky their interaction is, making the game feel funny and light at dangerous moments.

SPINE - Smashing!

Additionally, players will be able to wield a regular pistol or go ham with a dual pistol setup, a powerful shotgun, a head smasher in the form of a bottle, and an assault rifle. You will not be limited to these items because you can use the environment to your advantage. For instance, you can throw a target off the railing, stun an enemy by kicking them toward a wall, and use the wall to propel yourself forward to knock them down. The possibilities are endless so we cannot wait to see more of what SPINE has to offer in the coming months.

A SPINE for Everyone

Based on what we have seen so far though, Nekki looks to be on the right track to delivering a top-notch product. Hopefully, they are not in a rush to deliver the game and still make due on their promise to maintain this level of polish until the end of SPINE.

SPINE - You Against them All

No launch date has been announced but it is expected to be released on the PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Born of Bread is an upcoming turn-based RPG that features a load of bread and his merry friends (who aren’t pastries).

Born of Bread is a Loafly Story About a Bread Golem and His Friends

Let’s see how many bread-based puns we can fit in here, shall we? The upcoming slice-of-life RPG, Born of Bread, just got a dough-lightful full feature over on the official PlayStation Blog. There, the bakers WildArt Studio goes wild with his ideas and concepts that surround their upcoming breadwinner.

Let’s see if this adventure is as breadth-taking as it looks!

Loafly to See You

Born of Bread features a doughy bread golem named Loaf, who has risen to the occasion to thwart being from different times. Loaf is a slice of childlike wonder who has some odd doughy abilities, to say the least.

Born of Bread - A Loafly Adventure
A Loafly Adventure

Since bread by itself is not a sandwich, you knead the help of many allies. A colorful cast of wondrous characters will join Loaf on his adventures throughout the land. He will be joined by Lint, an aspiring writer who can strike enemies with his tail as well as his manuscripts. We also have a martial artist named Yagi who can punch his foes into submission. Last is Chloe, a budding detective who can inflict status effects on enemies in combat.

Born of Bread - A Bunch of Sour-Doughs
A Bunch of Sour-Doughs

Each of these characters is beautifully drawn and is charming in their own right. This unlikely bun-ch will engage in so many naan-stop adventures together. They will help Loaf in different ways, even outside of combat.

A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking

Born of Bread takes a page out of Paper Mario and Sea of Stars in the sense that its combat system requires a bit more active participation from the player. Its turn-based fights will require players to engage in minigames whenever certain actions occur, instead of merely selecting an attack from the menu.

Born of Bread - Rise to the Occasion
Rise to the Occasion

For example, using Lint’s tail to whiplash foes will require the player to press a button the moment an on-screen indicator reaches a certain section. Succeeding at the proper timing will grant you bonus damage, but failure will have no negative consequences whatsoever (except maybe a bruised ego). Other minigames will include button mashing for Loaf’s “Roast” ability. This makes you toast our hero so that he becomes burnt and a bit carcinogenic, which essentially grants him damage immunity for a short period.

Born of Bread - Naan-Stop Action
Naan-Stop Action

Being active in Born of Bread is not limited to offense. Players with impeccable timing can reduce the damage taken by the party when they press the X (or A, if on an Xbox controller) button at the moment the enemy hits them.

A Wondoughful Broadcast

Another nice feature of Born of Bread is that it has a mechanic called the “Battle Broadcast”. The feature lets you become a streamer care of your small dragon friend named Dub. He will use his little laptop to breadcast your fights, showing off your skills to the various NPCs you’ve encountered throughout your travels. Just like on Twitch, there will be an active chat commenting on your skills (or lack thereof). More viewers will also mean more rewards.

Born of Bread - Breadth-Taking Visuals
Breadth-Taking Visuals

The world of Born of Bread will be taking place in a beautifully rendered soft 3D background. Our 2D characters pop out of the environments, essentially giving them center stage. However, areas themselves will have a lot of character and will have many facets when it comes to exploring them.

Born of Bread - A Rye Sense of Humor
A Rye Sense of Humor

Colorful and detailed background will be ripe and full of secrets and yeast-er eggs. Loaf and company can collect various food items that will help them, like apples, chocolate cakes, and croissants. The developers do warn that we shouldn’t dwell on why Loaf would eat other pastries, but their pointing it out invites more questions.

Born of Bread

The game is set to be released on December 5, 2023, so mark your calen-dough and get ready for a bun-derful experience with Born of Bread! No pricing has been announced just yet, but a demo is available on Steam as of writing. Joining the game’s official Discord channel will also give a few lucky members the chance to win a Steam game key.

Born of Bread is a lighthearted and beautifully drawn 2.5D turn-based RPG. Its most obvious inspiration is the Paper Mario games, as it also follows the “flat” and “paper” aesthetic from those games.
