Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous The Lord of Nothing DLC Developer Explores 8 New Archetypes

Toward the end of last month, Owlcat Games revealed the sixth DLC coming to Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous called The Lord of Nothing. This new expansion will add 15 new archetypes adding further build customisations to the game. The developer has now revealed eight of the upcoming archetypes in a recent post, unravelling more of what’s to come in the next CRPG’s DLC.

Players should note that the localisation of the archetypes’ names and abilities is not yet finalised, meaning these could very well change. However, the new info gives great insight into the upcoming new archetypes that are “changed” slightly when compared to the original tabletop version of the game.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous- Shaman: Prophet of Pestilence

First up is the Prophet of Pestilence. This Shaman archetype is all about being a vessel for Apollyon, one of th Horseman of the Apocalypse. Apollyon is a powerful semi-divine entity that rules over disease, decay, and death, and he loves to share his blessings with his loyal followers. The main feature of this archetype is the Plague of Abaddon hex, which lets you customize how you spread your infections. You can also make your enemies weaker and fall vulnerable.

Getting too close, they might catch the plague themselves – and then you can finish them off with devasting new spells. A standout one is the Living Plague, which lets you unleash a swarm of bugs that devour everything. The bugs also infect and kill any living thing they touch, and then use their corpses to make more bugs. It’s a vicious cycle of destruction that you can use to your advantage.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Paladin: Tortured Crusader

Here’s a new take on the Tortured Crusader, a beloved archetype by the game’s lead designer Andrey Sverkunov. This archetype is built to take a hit and can handle anything thrown at them. The abilities for this Paladin archetype has been tweaked slightly, gaining extra fighter feats and getting even stronger when allies lose all their health points in battle. The All is Darkness ability can now be used to Smite Evil on any target, no matter the alignment. Help to banish evil in all areas of Golarion.

Cleric: Separatist

Following an unorthodox faith, The Separatist makes other believers feel they are a heretic. Despite this, they are still blessed with divine blessings from their beliefs. This Cleric archetype lets you pick a domain that your god doesn’t normally offer but at the cost of making the abilities of that domain weaker. A small expansion has been added to the game to suit these occasions, these are for both Ice and Undead. The devs have spent a great of effort in this archetype as they had to copy more than 450 files and 70 abilities for each domain and further modify them. This of course meant several rounds of testing.

Druid: Winter Child

Next up is the Winter Child. A type of Druid who leads a pack of fierce predators that seem to have close relationship with blizzards. Their ability has a strong affinity with blizzard elementals that follow their master and defend them. The stronger the Winter Child gets, the more powerful the elementals grow.

Using the blizzard will slow enemies, make ally Weapons stronger and further developer abilities. The druid it it’s final winter form will become the master of frost and blizzards. Use the icy lands of Sithhud to your benefit and make your foes feel the chill of winter!

Cavalier: Ghost Rider

Ghost Riders as the name suggests are unstoppable forces to be reckoned with when it comes to their mounts. This Cavalier rides a speedy phantom horse. Their power stems from using the undead to fight off evil for certain victories. Expect to challenge tough terrain and strengthen a spiritual bond between rider and phantom horse to become the strongest equestrian.

Shifter: Weretouched

As players have been fans of the Shifter since the Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous The Last Sarkorians DLC, Owlcat has heard the pleas for an additional archetype. The Weretouched can transform into three different animal forms, which differs from the tabletop version. Each has their own play styles and unique abilities which improve with leveling.

Unlike the traditional werewolves you may see in films or fantasy books, this Weretouched archetype can transform at will. They are not forced to unleash their beast, but choose whether to use their natural abilities for good or for evil.

Wizard: Shadowcaster

In The Lord of Nothing you can expect to explore the Shadow Plane. Along with this is a new archetype channelling its power as a Shadowcaster. This includes being able to wield shadows and summon powerful shadow creatures. They are like dark wizards who can warp reality and make you believe what they want with illusions.

The Shadowform gives extra perks and lets them continue casting spells even after being transformed. Fear the shadows no more as they bend to your will.

Witch: Hag of Gyronna

This Witch has a dark pact with a night hag who grants them wicked powers. They can do all kinds of nasty things to please their mistress, and even call her to their side as a full-fledged witch partner at high levels.

This Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous archetype has been a challenge for the dev team as it’s one of their favourites when it comes to the narrative of the original tabletop. Game designer Valeriy Kormanovskiy had their work cut out for them, almost having to completely redesign the Hag of Gyronna. A unique summon companion can be gained at level 12. While not having any high-level spells, the hag can use them at their disposal, as many times as they like. This grandmother is just as loyal as she is wicked.
